  • Auditor General’s 2014 Reports Released Today

    (FREDERICTON, NB) The province's Auditor General, Kim MacPherson, is presenting the first part of her annual review of the province's finances and programs to a joint meeting of Public Accounts and Crown Corporations committees today.

    Green Party Leader and Fredericton South MLA, David Coon, has been appointed to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and the Standing Committee on Crown Corporations, which are responsible for ensuring the Auditor General's recommendations are implemented.

  • Voting at Sixteen: Giving a Voice to New Brunswick Youth

    (FREDERICTON, NB) David Coon, Green Party Leader and MLA for Fredericton South, believes young people need a stronger voice in New Brunswick. To address this, Mr. Coon has introduced his first Bill in the Legislative Assembly today.

    The Bill, entitled An Act to Amend the Elections Act, would lower the voting age from age 18 to age 16 in New Brunswick.

  • Treatment Needed for Children to Break the Chain of Violence against Women

    (FREDERICTON, NB) In marking the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women on December 6, David Coon, MLA of Fredericton South and Green Party Leader, calls on the provincial government to invest in therapeutic treatment for children and youth who have been witnesses to violence in their homes.

    "If we are to ever break the cycle of men's violence towards women, we must focus our efforts on treating children, and our transition homes will need increased funding to do this," says Mr. Coon.

    The Green Party of NB (GPNB) seeks a dynamic Executive Director to lead our Party in achieving its mission and objectives. 

    Reporting to a volunteer Provincial Council, the Executive Director will have accountability for supervising party operations and strategic and creative leadership of the programs. The Executive Director plays a central role in fundraising and liaising with all stakeholders including members, volunteers, partners, donors, registered district associations and government. Staff supervision, oversight of finances and accounting, media relations and communications are key duties. Bilingualism is required as is the ability to effectively manage the website, social media etc.

    (Fredericton, NB) - Today, National Child Day, marks the 25th anniversary of Canada adopting The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and Green Party leader David Coon says it's time New Brunswick's Legislature stands up for the rights of children and youth.

    In ratifying the convention, Canada made a commitment to ensure all children are treated with dignity and respect. The Convention spells out the basic human rights to which children and youth are entitled.
