About Megan Mitton
Elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2020, Megan Mitton is the MLA for Memramcook-Tantramar and a Green Party Deputy Leader. As the first Green MLA in her riding and one of only a dozen Green parliamentarians across Canada, Megan has carved out a significant role in New Brunswick’s political landscape.
With a strong commitment to the health and well-being of her constituents, Megan has championed several key initiatives since taking office. Notably, she has successfully advocated for increased public funding for flu shots and diabetes supplies, ensuring that essential health resources are accessible to all who need them. Her advocacy also led to the establishment of a primary care clinic in her community, significantly improving local access to healthcare services. Megan's proactive approach extended to the creation of a healthcare committee dedicated to preserving and enhancing services at Sackville Memorial Hospital. Additionally, she initiated a community task force to address regional needs during the pandemic and beyond, reflecting her commitment to responsive and responsible governance.
Megan Mitton’s dedication to her community is further exemplified by her previous service as a Sackville Town Councillor. With her background in local governance, her extensive volunteer and advocacy work, and over a decade in the non-profit sector, she boasts a solid foundation in both policy development and community engagement. The knowledge she gained doing her Bachelor of Arts at McGill, along with her practical experience, have been instrumental in her role as an MLA, allowing her to effectively address the diverse challenges faced by her constituents.
Residing in Sackville with her husband, Steve Geier, and their two children, Megan remains deeply connected to the community she serves. Her leadership, marked by a progressive vision and a collaborative approach, continues to drive meaningful change and foster a better future for all New Brunswickers.
