About Jean Bourgeois

Originally from Dieppe and having exercise a pastoral ministry in the parishes of Port Elgin, Melrose and Shemogue between from 1984 to 1988, Jean knows the riding of Shediac-Cap-Acadie. During this time, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) reserves before joining the Regular Force in 1988, where he had an exemplary 25-year career as a military chaplain.

Educated and trained to serve others and that of our country, Jean was posted to different military bases and headquarters, and participated in peacekeeping missions in Cyprus and Croatia. During the Golf war in 1991, he was posted to the Canadian Field Hospital in Saudi Arabia. Upon his return from peacekeeping, he was appointed chaplain to the Royal Military College of Canada and in 2005 he was appointed commandant of the CAF School of Chaplains and ended his career as the Director of Chaplain Operations of the CAF.

Jean married Donna in 2013, they lived in Riverview for a period of six years during which time they spent a year in Australia. Since 2019, they live in Petit-Cap enjoying the natural beauty of their surroundings and are fully aware of the socio-political issues of their riding, that being the reason why Jean, with others, fought so hard to keep the Eastern part of Cap-Acadie within the riding of Shediac-Cap-Acadie.

Attentive to climate change, Jean is passionate about the sustainability of our environment while supporting a growing economy. Naturally, he is preoccupied by the present health care issues, the lack of affordable housing and views education as an investment in our future. There is much work to be done.
