About Vincent Merola
Vincent Merola is an unabashed warrior of social justice and equity for all. He is an activist, an advocate, and a systems change-agent with a penchant for comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable. His heart belongs to his lovely wife Michelle, whose caring family took him in from homelessness when he was 17 years old. They will be celebrating 23 years of marriage this October. The two are recent immigrants to Canada by way of San Francisco and became citizens in November of 2022. Vincent and his wife have a small hobby farm of Silkie chickens and raised garden beds that is fully powered by solar. They both drive a fully EV vehicle.
Vincent feels incredibly fortunate to have the position of Community Development Officer for Social Inclusion with the City of Moncton where some of his most recent achievements include getting the new Rising Tide nonprofit up and running as well as the Humanity Project’s tiny home initiative funded. In 2021, Vincent was the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Dialogue NB Award.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Hartford and has completed a year of graduate coursework in public administration from the University of California. Vincent has held elected positions for the Boards of Education and Selectmen in the City of Torrington, Connecticut and has an extensive history working and volunteering in the non-profit sector. He currently sits on the board of directors for Downtown City Housing.
