About Teri McMackin
Teri is deeply passionate about community development, environmental and social justice causes, and politics. She aims to leave the planet and its people better than she found them. As a fierce advocate for marginalized communities, Teri believes society is only as good as it treats its most vulnerable—embracing the motto, "a rising tide lifts all boats."
Her involvement in local government, both elected and volunteer, allows her to push for change and inclusion in decision-making. A career volunteer and digital handywoman, Teri serves on numerous non-profit boards, offering her expertise to benefit purpose-driven organizations. This volunteer work has led her to diverse employment with various fantastic non-profits, whose resourcefulness continues to inspire her.
Teri holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Crandall University. Although she enjoyed studying the American eel in Irishtown Nature Park, her path veered towards community development. After several years with non-profits, she launched her own business in 2019, providing virtual assistant and consulting services to purpose-driven organizations. This allows her to contribute to multiple causes without being tied to just one.
In her spare time, Teri enjoys writing, taking LinkedIn Learning courses, engaging in political discussions, dancing, and outdoor activities. She shares her life with her tech-savvy partner, two busy children, two lazy cats, and a wild dog.
