The Rural Lynx transportation projectPosted on News by Carmen Budilean · July 27, 2017 4:49 PM
The Green Party of New Brunswick applauds the move by the province to invest $500,000 over two years to help fund the Rural Lynx transportation project.
The plan for a rural transportation network to serve southwestern New Brunswick has been spearheaded by former Saint Andrews mayor Stan Choptiany, who worked with representatives from community groups such as Charlotte Dial-A-Ride, Vibrant Communities Charlotte County and representatives from area municipalities to gather information, form a business plan, and then seek funding.
Community surveys conducted by the The Southwest New Brunswick Transport Authority Inc. showed a great need for a transport system in the region, and employers in the region also expressed support.
The project demonstrates the tremendous power of community-driven leadership and is a good first step towards assisting the rural poor while offering an environmentally friendly alternative to single-passenger vehicle transport.
The Green Party of New Brunswick hopes Rural Lynx becomes a model for other ventures in the province.
