Special Meeting of Members

Following up from our AGM last month, the Provincial Council invites you to join your fellow members at our Special Meeting of Members (SMM) on Tuesday, May 11th from 7pm to 9:30pm (and May 18th if needed). The object of this SMM is to complete the unfinished business of this past AGM: the amendments that were provided to all members on February 17th, 2021.

There is no fee to attend our Online AGM, but we invite you to contribute and renew your membership. (Membership fees are not tax deductible.)

Deadline for registration is May 10th at 5pm.

The SMM will be held online, with a phone in option, in order to comply with the restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Simultaneous French/English translation will be provided for the SMM.

*To be able to participate, you must have been a member for at least 14 days, i.e. since Tuesday, April 27th. You can sign up to be a member by following this link Become a member.

Registration

To register for the SMM, you must complete this Zoom registration form. You can also register by calling us at 506-447-8499 and leaving a message with your name and phone number. We will get back to you to complete your registration.

To ensure all interested members can participate efficiently in our meeting, a “practice” session will be offered 30 minutes prior to the meeting; simply login with the link you will receive from the registration process. This session will allow for everyone to test their computer or phone settings and provide guidance in using all of the Zoom software features.

Amendments

The specific goal of the Special Meeting of Members (SMM) is to complete the unfinished business of this past AGM*. Therefore, the following bylaw and constitution recommendations from the Provincial Council will be presented for member approval at the SMM.

* Note that these are the same propositions that were submitted to you on February 17th, 2021 with the exception of those already discussed and adopted at the 2021 AGM. The up to date version of our bylaws is posted on our website at this address: https://www.greenpartynb.ca/constitution

See you at the SMM!

Our Principles

>Living within Our Ecological Means

A culture of cooperation, caring and understanding is essential to ending violence in our society. Rehabilitation rather than vengeance must be the goal of our justice system.

> Local Self-Reliance

We must have the opportunity and the responsibility as citizens to contribute to the common good, which requires that all have the capacity to participate in community life.

> Real Democracy

Everyone must have equal access to the necessities of life and be treated with dignity and respect. Treaties with First Nations must be honoured.

> Social Justice and Equality

We must be able to participate in decisions that affect our lives and be guaranteed that our votes are reflected in the make-up of the Legislative Assembly.

> Active Citizenship

Our communities should be in control of their own destinies, supported by strong local economies, and sustained by local sources of food and renewable energy.

> A Culture of Peace and Respect

We must live within the ecological limits of the Earth, while meeting our needs without threatening our children's future or the survival of other species.
