Sign our Petition to Improve Public Transportation in New Brunswick!

New Brunswick is missing the train when it comes to public transportation. No one in the provincial government is in charge of public transportation, leaving New Brunswick far behind other provinces. Many areas of the province are completely inaccessible by public transportation, and where transportation exists, it is often several hours longer than a comparable car ride would be due to indirect routes or an infrequent schedule. And if you manage to catch a train up north, aging infrastructure slows the journey to a cautionary snail’s pace. Better bring a long book with you on that slowcomotive!

Did you know that a 2017 government report called for a single provincial entity to be tasked with overseeing the operationalization of the Transportation Strategy. Over seven years later, the report still hasn’t been implemented and nobody is in charge of province-wide transportation planning.

We are calling on the Holt government to put a minister in charge of public transportation to ensure coordination and connectivity of services to facilitate access for all and create the conditions to foster successful and inclusive alternatives to vehicles as was recommended in the report.

Our province is brimming with potential. Let’s unlock it by enhancing connections between cities and rural areas through improved public transportation. Get ‘all aboard’ by adding your name to support the Green Party’s vision for a more accessible and affordable public transportation system in N.B.
