David Coon Unveils Green Party Election Platform

October 9, 2024

FREDERICTON – Today, David Coon, leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick, unveiled the Green Party Election Platform for the 2024 provincial election at a press conference at the party’s campaign headquarters.

“This platform addresses the most pressing issues facing New Brunswickers today - the crisis in healthcare, housing, the cost of living, and the climate breakdown,” Coon stated. “And it recognizes how all of these issues are interconnected and need to be addressed together.  The Green platform will bring hope to New Brunswickers because it commits to action, to implement concrete practical solutions to the multiple challenges we face as a province, to actually fix the problems that bedevil us,” said Coon.

After four years in which Blaine Higgs racked up $2.7 billion in surpluses, the cornerstone of the Green Party platform is to make a generational investment in healthcare to address recruitment and retention, and to ensure that every New Brunswicker has a family healthcare team in their community to care for them.  Its measures to make life more affordable are targeted at those who need them the most.  It is concerned with the security and well-being of our people, their communities, and the natural environment that makes life possible.

“We have a plan, and it's backed up by the generational investment we need to make to save our healthcare system,” said Coon. “Under a Green government, access to primary health care will become a right, just as access to public education is a right. No more waiting lists.”

“Our election platform lays out our vision for the future of New Brunswick and provides a practical affordable roadmap to get there,” concluded Coon.
