FREDERICTON - The New Brunswick Green party says it would establish a provincewide network of community health care centres offering a wide array of services if it wins the Sept. 27 election.
Party leader Jack MacDougall says the centres would provide primary health care, lifestyle counselling and chronic disease management.
MacDougall says the party envisions the centres as facilities that would provide comprehensive care with many types of health professionals.
He says he hopes they would attract family doctors, nurse practitioners, midwives, dietitians, registered nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists and others.
The party says the network would ease the burden on the hospital-based health care system, reducing wait times and stabilizing costs.
