About Genevieve MacRae
Genevieve MacRae is the Interim Executive Director of the Green Party of New Brunswick who took on the role in April of this year. She’s a musician, an administrator, an environmentalist and an activist at heart. She has worked for non-profit organizations for decades in a variety of roles: as an administrative assistant, a program coordinator, an education specialist and an executive director. She knows what’s involved in working with a grassroots organization and is familiar with the satisfaction that comes from working for an organization you believe in.
Genevieve is New Brunswicker, born and raised. Her roots are in the Miramichi, the Nashwaak River Valley and Acadie. Her folks still live on the Nashwaak River in Taymouth where she and her sister were raised. She has a strong connection to Blackville having spent her life visiting her grandparents and uncles there.
Growing up in such natural beauty instilled in Genevieve an appreciation for what we have as well as a need to protect it. She was raised by environmentalists. She has been a Green party supporter for a number of years and started actively campaigning during the 2020 provincial elections, knocking on doors and helping out in the office of one of the campaign teams.
Genevieve believes firmly in the six principles of the Green Party of New Brunswick and is working to see an improvement to our democracy, how we treat our people and how we treat our land. It’s time for electoral reform, healthcare providers for all new brunswickers, a healthy environment, a return to local services, an affordable life in New Brunswick and an end to deep poverty.
