The Green Gazette | Volume 1, Issue 4 | December 2025
It's been an incredible year for the Green Party of New Brunswick!
We started the year off strong with the founding meeting of the NB Young Greens - Jeunes Verts de NB. In May, we welcomed Genevieve MacRae, our former Interim Executive Director as our new permanent Executive Director. Our staff, interns, and volunteers have been working hard to reorganize our resources - based on feedback from our RDAs (Registered District Associations) - to prepare us for future elections.
Our Green MLAs, David Coon and Megan Mitton, have been tirelessly advocating for better public transportation, better access to healthcare and education, renewable energy, and more. In March, David tabled Bill 19: An Act Respecting the Right to a Healthy Environment. The Legislature was packed with supporters from across the province who showed up in support of Bill 19's First Reading. After a Second Reading in May, Bill 19 successfully passed to the Standing Committee on Law Amendments for further study and public consultations. Stay tuned for more developments!
Just last month, we held a very productive SMM (Special Members Meeting) on Green policy with four guest speakers who are experts in renewable energy, mining (with respect to the proposed Sisson Mine), and more. Genevieve MacRae also organized a very fun Greens Got Talent evening fundraiser, with lots of music, singing, and laughs.
On the ground, Green Party members and volunteers across the province organized meetings in their communities to bring people together, strengthen the party at the grassroots level, and engaged in meaningful conversations about the future of New Brunswick.
We look forward to what the next years will bring. There is a lot more work to do and we have an exceptional team of passionate and committed people to help us build the Green Party of New Brunswick stronger than ever!
Enjoy the holiday season, remember to take time to rest and be with friends and family, and know that our staff is here to support you as we fight for a brighter future - together.
Enjoy this month's newsletter!

Year-End Giving: Help Us Start 2026 Strong
As 2025 comes to a close, we’re gearing up for a crucial year of organizing, training local teams, building resources, and growing our communications capacity ahead of the 2028 election. None of that happens without you.
In the past few weeks, volunteers have been making year-end fundraising phone calls, and we’ve mailed a special appeal letter to many of our supporters. If you’ve already given — thank you. If you haven’t had a chance yet, there’s still time!
You must donate by December 31st in order to get a tax credit for 2025.
Thanks to New Brunswick’s political tax credit, your donation may cost you less than you think. The tax credit system is a little complicated, but here’s a look at some of the key numbers in terms of how much a donation will cost you after your tax credit.
- Give $50 ➜ actual cost after tax credit = $12.50
- Give $200 ➜ actual cost after tax credit = $50
- Give $550 ➜ actual cost after tax credit = $225
- Give $1075 ➜ actual cost after tax credit = $575
Every contribution — whether it’s $25, $100, or $3,000 (the maximum contribution an individual can donate per year) — helps us:
- Support and strengthen local teams across the province
- Train volunteers and prepare strong local campaigns
- Build tools and resources to stay connected with members and supporters
- Amplify Green voices and solutions in every corner of New Brunswick
- Support our Green MLAs as they work tirelessly to bring our voices to the Legislature
If you believe New Brunswick needs a stronger Green voice in 2028 and beyond, please consider making a year-end gift today.
Thank you for all the ways you support this movement — with your time, your energy, and, when you’re able, your donations. Together, we’re building something that lasts.
***If you’d like to confirm how much you have already donated this year, please contact our office or call us at 506-447-8499.
Policy Working Group Update
Following our very productive SMM on Policy in November, our policy working group has established two committees to draft Green Party of New Brunswick policy on electricity (chaired by Tom McLean) and mining (chaired by Anthea Plummer). Any member with expertise and interest in these topics is invited to contact the office to get involved.

The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis by Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac - recommended by Genevieve MacRae. The authors outline two possible scenarios for our planet. In one, they describe what life on Earth will be like by 2050 if we fail to meet the Paris Agreement’s climate targets. In the other, they lay out what it will be like to live in a regenerative world that has net-zero emissions. They argue for confronting the climate crisis head-on, with determination and optimism. The Future We Choose presents our options and tells us what governments, corporations, and each of us can, and must, do to fend off disaster.
