About Chantal Landry
Chantal was born in Ontario to parents who had Quebec and Acadian roots. Her french-Canadian family traveled to Tracadie annually, and finally, in 1995, her parents moved the family to Dieppe. Chantal quickly made friends and adapted to her new life as a teenager in the Maritimes.
As a Katimavik participant, Chantal discovered her passion for helping others and creating a better society for all, which has never wavered. While studying at NBCC, she became a Youth Care Worker and developed leadership skills. After completing various contracts for several not-for-profits, Chantal discovered that she was meant to lead a team and significantly impact society. Inspired to dream bigger and increase her formal learning, she attained her BA in Organizational Management as a mature student while working and raising her son with the help of friends and family. She finally became Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Moncton, a social enterprise that runs a retail store and provides affordable homeownership opportunities to low-income families. This proved to Chantal that business and social missions could work within one organization and have an incredible impact on the lives of people who need it most. After much reflection, she decided to leave HFH and move on to a new challenge of teaching at NBCC. She aims to teach students that all businesses can be philanthropic and contribute to their community to make it great for everyone.
Chantal always knew she wanted to be part of influencing decisions that led to permanent solutions to societal issues. Her work with the NB Common Front for Social Justice has impacted her perspective on poverty and how we need to create opportunities for every citizen to have a decent life. She also believes that NB has incredible potential that it has yet to tap into to allow all citizens to lead rich and fulfilling lives.
